Charbono – 2013; Bending Branch Winery; Comfort, Texas

Never had a Charbono?  Then you are in for a real treat!  It may go by some different names in the world, but the gratification is always superb. The grapes for this Bending Branch release were sourced from Zentner Vineyard of the Sierra Foothills AVA.  The intensity of the deep dark red color certainly helps set the mood for a delicious red wine trance.  It really unfolds quite nicely after an hour with rich blueberry and raspberry notes.  The flavors of black berries with a touch of leather will respectfully envelope your tastebuds in the most pleasant way. This wine has good structure, moderate tannins, and a pleasant medium finish. This beauty also won a well-deserved Double Gold 2017 Texas International Wine Competition medal. The wine can easily nap in your cellar for at least another 10 years. We really enjoyed this one and look forward to more of this lovely varietal from Bending Branch in the future.
