Norteno – 2019; Saba Winery; Mason, Texas

There is some sadness yet joy when you get to try a bottle from a winery that is no more. This blend of Tempranillo, Sangiovese and Alicante Bouschet was one of the first releases (extra special treat) from the winery. Sourced from Tad Daniel Vineyards of the Texas High Plains AVA, you’ll want to let this one breathe for a good hour to experience full enjoyment. Sip it too early, and you might not get what you expected. It pours semi opaque and has fruity aromas of blackberries and ripe cherries. It has softer tannins and light acidity along with a bit of spice. It’s probably not meant for long term aging, so definitely drink now and enjoy well with a good protein feast. Cheers!
