The Round Mountain wine brand from Lewis
Wines has always been a real top-quality treat. This 2012 reserve vintage
continues that reputation. Round Mountain Vineyard in the Texas Hill Country
AVA has focused on Portuguese varietals. This 2012 release is a blend of 53%
Tempranillo, 26% Tinto Cão and 21% Touriga Nacional. The deep cherry red hue is
the first part of the pleasure in enjoying what this bottle has to offer. This
is complimented by cherry aromas as you take in that first inhale. This full-bodied
wine then unfolds with a bit of smokiness and cocoa notes on the palate. The
acids are bright, so bring on that fatty meat dish for this wine. The tannins
are still holding firm on this eight-year-old bottle. Give it a couple of years for the acids to
tone down a bit more and see how it progresses.
If you have saved any bottles, we toast to you and hope you enjoy!
