Cardassian
Kanar – NV; Star Trek Wines; Alpha Quadrant
A
nod to one of Star Trek’s adversaries, this themed based wine is a take on a
drink revered by the Cardassians. According to some episode of Deep Space 9, it
was an “acquired” taste for all other aliens including humans. This 21st
century Terran take on this wine is an easy drinking red-wine blend. It is made
by the E2 Family Winery and sourced from Lodi AVA. The ABV is 14.6% and
balances out quite well with the tasting profile. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot. Although it does have a “left-bank”
feel to it, it is relatively easy on the palate. The unique spiral shaped
bottle is reminiscence of a style used in Europe way back when. As you pour, it
does have its own unique “glug glug” sound making this bottle a bit more
interesting both visually and to the ear. Call it a bottle with special
effects. Star Trek fans will also like the Cardassian “symbols” on the bottle,
as well. The bottle is a collectible and
keeper for sure. Enjoy!
