Petite Sirah – 2017; Bending Branch Winery; Comfort, Texas

Here is another great Texas 2017 to cherish.  Sourced from Newsom Vineyards, the deep, dark purple hue might initially trick your brain into thinking that this might be a heavy red. Before you take that initial sip, breathe in those notes of currant and plum first.  Next notice the lovely aromas of red cherries followed by a bit of coffee. Take a sip or two and you will be surprised how smooth and elegant this Petite Sirah is. Go ahead and wrap those tastebuds around that licorice sensation along with a bit of vanilla.  There is also some cocoa and tobacco to round out that tasting profile. You will also experience a long medium finish, as well. Call this red wine medium bodied and enjoy with your favorite feast. It is food pairing worthy. Cheers!
