La Cuvée du Chêne – 2016; Calais Winery; Hye, Texas

This big bold Petit Verdot is definitely well suited for the serious red wine drinker out there. Sourced from the Texas High plains AVA, you’ll want to give this baby some serious time to open up before indulging in your ultimate wine tasting and food pairing experience.  It pours a very deep, dark inky color, but not unexpected for this varietal. Plums and blackberries really come out to great your wine senses along with a touch of licorice.  Berry flavors will relish those tastebuds as well and do be prepared for that tannic sensation. It’s a hard core beauty of a red wine to enjoy for sure, so enjoy well.  Santé!
