Inverno – 2003; Becker Vineyards; Fredericksburg, Texas

Well, this is certainly a treat to open! A mere 18 years later, this Becker blend of 50/50 Nebbiolo and Merlot still has some great things to entice your wine senses. That brick red color may have something to say about its age, but those aromas of berry and dried plum will certainly intrigue your nose. It has some blueberry flavors with a touch of smokiness throughout. This medium bodied red wine has just enough earthy undertones to give it some surprisingly good character even after all these years. The acids are light, and the tannins are still holding moderately well.  You will still be pleased at the lingering fine finish this lovely wine provides. Enjoy over a few hours to see how it unfolds. The only sad part is that you might have wished you had more. None the less, Cheers!
